    Description

Please email with any questions. Vintage Real Photo Postcard, unposted, caption reads "Lounge California Art Club, Barnsdall Park, Los Angeles". The photograph shows the spectacular main fireplace of Hollyhock House surrounded by original FLW designed furniture. Notice that someone put curtains on either end of the skylight above the fireplace. The house was built for Aline Barnsdell and it was she who allowed the California Art Club to lease the house for 15 years beginning in 1926. They CAC intended to use the house as gallery and exhibition space. Maybe that explains the curtaining of the skylight- fear of the sun's effects on artwork. Card shows some very, very minor rounding to corners.
