Caught on CCTV: Gujarat woman dies after being hit by van while going home

A teenage girl died in a road accident in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district days after the death of her father due to a prolonged illness.
According to the police, the incident happened on Wednesday, October 9, in a residential society in Bhavnagar, when the girl was hit by a school van when she was returning home on a scooter.
After the incident, the girl was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
The incident came 15 days after the death of the girl’s father, who was suffering from a critical illness.
CCTV footage of the incident showed the school van hitting the girl, who was riding her scooter back home.

After the incident, a case was filed against the van driver under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and teams were constituted to arrest him.
Earlier in August this year, a woman died in a similar incident after being hit by a truck in Gujarat’s Vadodara.
The incident, which happened on August 11 at around 5.05 pm, was captured on CCTV. It showed the truck – speeding – in an attempt to overtake the woman on the scooter.
After the incident, the woman was rushed to a hospital, where she died during treatment.
